Stevie was rescued by a police officer in South Los Angeles August 19, 2005. Here is the e-mail sent to me:
While working in south central last Friday morning at around 3am, I heard a loud kitten cry at the location of a possible burglary in progress. The burglary turned out to be nothing, but I saw a little black and white kitten stumbling around underneath a car. I took a quick peak and noticed that the kitten was only a few weeks old, had a greasy coat to him (from what I don't want to know) and had both eyes shut with a crust and green mucus.
I had to run to another emergency and left the kitten behind. I figured mom would be coming around to feed or ? a few hours later I was about to get off from work and passed by the kitten, not expecting to find him there.
The kitten was there stumbling around blindly (literally) and shaking. I got on the floor and called to the kitten and he came to me. It took forever cause he walked so cautiously due to his lack of sight/illness.
I picked the kitten up and brought him for vet care. The vet did not think the kitten was going to make through the weekend, but the tough guy pulled through. They gave him fluids and antibiotics and shortly after he began to eat on his own. His eyes are partially open. The left eye is a blue/gray haze like cataracts and the right eye, as far as I can see is a pretty blue. He appears to be a longer hair cat.....but who knows. He will most likely be blind in one eye if not 100% blind. What a sucky start to his life!
I think the kitten knew his soon to come fate, and was in the street crying for someone to help him. He was screaming sooo loud I thought there was a cat fight under the car....and to see a few ounce kitten under the car was surprising.
This kitten needs a good home. He is probably supposed to be dead by now, considering his status when I found him. To have such a bad start on life, I really need some help with this little guy. If there is ever a true rescue out there, this little ghetto kitten takes the cake.

You are an angel for helping this little kitten. Even in the absolute worse case senario that he ever has to be euthanized, it will be in peace with a full tummy and warm loving hands, not the agongy he would have endured had you not rescued him.
